The Sugar Beach Resort is pictured here, and with the beautiful palm groves lining the shoreline, it's a never-ending paradise. The beach was so wide in this painting because it was low tide. The west Maui mountains in the distance have many variegated colors, and during the winter, there's a myriad of greens, blues, and earth tones. I love painting the wave energy there. Both north and south swells can be big on the south shores of Kihei.
